Château d'Armailhac is a historic Bordeaux estate in Pauillac, recognised for producing classic Pauillac wines with structural depth and ageing potential.

Château d’Armailhac has been owned by the Baron Philippe de Rothschild family since 1933, when Baron Philippe de Rothschild acquired the estate. It remains under the stewardship of his descendants, who also oversee the family’s Pauillac holdings including Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Clerc Milon, within the Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA structure.

Château d’Armailhac’s vineyards are located on the gravelly, deep alluvial soils that are typical of the Pauillac plateau. 

Vinification

At d’Armailhac combines traditional Médoc practice with precise control: grapes are fermented and macerated with attention to extraction and temperature, followed by malolactic conversion. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak to support structure and complexity without overwhelming the fruit. The 2022 cuvée is noted for its balance of ripe dark fruit, firm tannins and clarity of expression, consistent with the château’s stylistic profile in Pauillac.

On the nose, Château d'Armailhac reveals intense aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and dark plum, layered with notes of cedar, graphite, tobacco, and subtle spice from oak maturation. The palate is powerful yet refined, offering flavors of dark berries, cocoa, and earthy undertones supported by firm, well-integrated tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, leaving lingering impressions of fruit, oak, and spice.
