About The Winery

Champagne Pommery is located in Reims in the Champagne region of France. The house was founded in 1836 by Alexandre Louis Pommery and Narcisse Greno, originally connected to the wool trade, which faced a severe crisis in the 1850s. After Alexandre Pommery’s death in 1858, his widow Madame Louise Pommery took control of the business and decided to focus entirely on Champagne production. Her leadership transformed the house into one of the most influential producers in the region. She famously declared: “I resolved to continue with the business and take over for my husband,” marking the beginning of her ambitious expansion of the estate and international markets.

A major innovation came in 1874, when Madame Pommery asked her cellar master to create an extremely dry Champagne with very low dosage, at a time when most Champagnes were sweet. The result was Pommery Nature 1874, one of the first Brut Champagnes ever produced, which changed the style of Champagne and established the house’s signature approach to freshness and precision.

Vinification

After pressing, alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. The wines are then aged on their lees in bottles in the chalk cellars for a minimum of 36 months for the non-vintage cuvées, while vintage Champagnes are aged significantly longer before disgorgement.

On the nose, Pommery Cuvée Louise 2006 reveals elegant aromas of citrus blossom, orchard fruit, and white peach layered with brioche, toasted nuts, honey, and delicate mineral notes.
