About The Winery

Champagne Taittinger is one of the most respected family-owned Champagne houses, renowned for its elegant, Chardonnay-driven style and a long-standing commitment to quality and independence.

The modern history of Taittinger began in 1932, when Pierre Taittinger acquired Château de la Marquetterie, near Épernay. Since then, the house has remained closely tied to the family, with successive generations shaping its identity. The Taittinger family are the majority shareholders of the company with 72% ownership. The remaining 28% is owned by a financial holding company, Starwood Capital Group. In 2005, Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger returned to head the firm as chairman and CEO, succeeding his cousin Jean-Claude Fourmon who had been at the helm since 1983. In 2008, Michel Fauroux became Chef de Cave, succeeding Pierre Gimonnet who retired after 42 years in the position. Vinification

Fermentation is carefully controlled to preserve freshness, while extended ageing on the lees is central to the house style.

A distinctive feature of Taittinger is the high proportion of Chardonnay used in both non-vintage and prestige cuvées, which lends the wines elegance, linearity, and aging potential. Particularly from the chalky soils of the Côte des Blancs, which contribute freshness, finesse, and aromatic precision to the wines.

On the nose, Comtes de Blancs 2011 reveals refined aromas of citrus blossom, lemon zest, white peach, and ripe orchard fruit, intertwined with brioche, toasted almond, and delicate mineral notes.
